A tour exploring the castle town where Samurai once lived
We will trace the history of Sakura City as we stroll through the streets once inhabited by samurai, including the old samurai residences.
Along the way, we will also visit long-established traditional Japanese sweet shop and tea house that have been beloved by locals for generations.

A tour tracing history through historical buildings and Zen meditation
After strolling through the streets of Sakura City, we will visit the samurai residence where the feudal lord of Sakura once lived. The building is designated as an Important Cultural Property, and you can enjoy views of a beautiful Japanese garden.
In this traditional Japanese-style mansion, you will experience Zen meditation, sharpening your mind and feeling as if you have stepped back in time to a bygone era.

Former Hotta Residence
This is the residence and garden established in 1890 by Hotta Masamichi, the last lord of the Sakura clan.
The building is designated a National Important Cultural Property as an example of a high-class Japanese-style residence from the Meiji period.
The garden is designated a National Scenic Spot as the “Sakura Garden”.
Hiyodorizaka Slope
An historic path next to the Samurai Residence Street, a slope surrounded by a beautiful bamboo grovåe that has remained almost unchanged since the Edo period.
This historic path, similar in atmosphere to Kyoto's Arashiyama, lets you experience Edo-period Sakura, where samurai seem ready to appear at any moment.
Kimuraya
”Zouroku Mochi Honpo Kimuraya” was founded in 1882 as the second branch of Ginza Kimuraya, famous for its sweet bean paste buns.
Makata Shrine
A shrine deeply believed in by generations of samurai as the guardian god of the Sakura.
The current main hall was constructed in 1843 by the then clan leader, Hotta Masayoshi, and is registered as a designated cultural property of Sakura City.
Ogawaen Tea House
A tea house beloved in the castle town for its premium tea, Ogawaen is a long-established shop in Sakura founded during the Meiji era. We offer you the Sakura Tea Gelato on a tour.
Samurai Residences
Three residences where former Sakura domain samurai once lived are open to the public along the Samurai Residence Street, which retains the atmosphere of that era.
The scale and style of each residence differed according to the samurai's rank, offering a glimpse into the lives of the samurai of that time.
Tsukamoto Museum
A unique museum specializing in Japanese swords, one of the nation's largest collections.
Every three months, approximately 20 pieces are displayed from the collection of Sakura-born entrepreneur Tsukamoto Sōzan:
